William Shakespeare's play Hamlet was re-made as a movie by Michael Almereyda in 2000, set within contemporary Manhattan. Ethan Hawke plays Hamlet as the film student with a laptop computer & Julia Stiles co-stars as a pouty Ophelia. Hamlet's uncle Claudius is played by Kyle MacLachlan, and Liev Schreiber plays Laertes.
